Call to worship:
13 Sing for joy, O heavens, and exult, O earth;
break forth, O mountains, into singing!
For the Lord has comforted his people
and will have compassion on his afflicted.14 But Zion said, “The Lord has forsaken me;
my Lord has forgotten me.”15 “Can a woman forget her nursing child,
that she should have no compassion on the son of her womb?
Even these may forget,
yet I will not forget you.
16 Behold, I have engraved you on the palms of my hands;
your walls are continually before me.Isaiah 49:13-16

Questions for reflection:
Jesus is said to have a purifying gaze and a stable stance. How is this good news?
Jesus compares false teaching to Jezebel, who removed truth, placed self at center, to ultimately get what we want. How do you see this at work today?
Where are there temptations to slice out aspects of Gods story? What posture are we to have in adhering to his word in the world today?
Corporate Prayer:
Our Father in Heaven, We thank you for this life with its celebrations and sorrows. We are grateful that you have been with us for every moment. For the wounds we’ve encountered, we ask you to heal us. For the wounds we’ve inflicted, we ask you to forgive us. As we embark into this year we pray for your guidance and direction. Grant us a hunger for your word, a passion for prayer, and a love for people. Let us reflect you well in all that we say and do. For the glory of Christ we pray, amen.
